Ribes de Freser, August 31, 2025 – The Pyrenees Stage Run officially kicked off its 2025 edition today with the first stage between Ribes de Freser and Queralbs. Almost 150 runners divided into 66 teams and representing 22 different nationalities began this seven-day, 200 km journey across the Pyrenees, combining sport, nature and camaraderie.
The day was marked by very good weather conditions for running, which all teams took advantage of since tomorrow it looks like we’ll have to get a little wet. Today’s route was spectacular: runners crossed the summit of Balandrau, the Coma de Vaca refuge, and the Coll de Torreneules before finishing at the Sanctuary of Núria.
According to Austrian runner Klaus Kiessler, who is running the Pyrenees Stage Run for the seventh time:
“Every year I come back because this race is unique. Meeting new runners, reconnecting with old teammates, and experiencing the Pyrenees in this way is incomparable. Even after running it six times before, each edition has special moments and still excites me like the very first time.”

Tomorrow, Monday, runners will face the second stage, starting in Núria and finishing in Masella, a demanding day that includes the iconic summit of Puigmal.
The Pyrenees Stage Run is organised by BiFree Sports, a company with extensive experience in organising stage races. In addition to the Brama, they also manage the Costa Brava Stage Run and the Brama Stage Run, events that stand out for offering a unique experience of adventure and challenge in spectacular natural environments.
