The Pyrenees crossing, taking place from August 29 to September 5, 2026, debuts a festive stage in Andorra and implements a lottery system to ensure equitable access due to high demand.
The Pyrenees Stage Run (PSR), the benchmark stage race in the Pyrenees, reaches its 10th edition in 2026. To commemorate a decade of adventure, the organization has announced significant changes making this edition the most special and complete in its history. The race expands to 8 stages, starting one day earlier than usual, and modifies its access system by introducing a pre-registration and lottery period.
A longer and more festive PSR: The major sporting update is the extension of the route. The PSR 2026 will begin on Saturday, August 29th, one day earlier than traditionally. This change allows for the introduction of a brand new 4th stage: a Vertical Kilometer in Encamp (Andorra). This new stage, designed to be a festive day celebrating the 10th anniversary, will allow runners to enjoy two consecutive nights in Encamp, facilitating rest and social time. The competition will resume its classic format from the 5th stage (equivalent to the 4th in previous years) until crossing the finish line in Salardú on Saturday, September 5th.
New registration system: Due to the sustained growth of the event and to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to participate, the PSR is launching a new registration process. Direct registration by order is eliminated, opening a pre-registration period from December 5th to 14th, 2025. If the available spots are exceeded (130 for the Full Experience and 20 for the Basic), a lottery will be held on December 19th. This lottery will operate on a points system. In a race as international as the PSR, and considering that last year spots sold out in just two hours, the goal is to ensure equitable access regardless of the runners’ time zone or schedule availability.
Tribute to the pioneers and the “PSR Spirit”: The 10th edition will also be a tribute to the race’s history. The organization has invited some runners from the 1st edition —when there were only 23 participants— to join for the first weekend, and some of them will even dare to complete the entire crossing again.

The new Vertical Km in Encamp and the reunion with participants from the very first edition remind us of where we come from and everything we have built together. With the new lottery system, we want to thank our community and ensure the process is fair for everyone who dreams of crossing the Pyrenees with us.”
The PSR is a stage race for teams of 2 or 3 runners that crosses the Catalan and Andorran Pyrenees, offering an experience that combines competition, tourism, and camaraderie. The race has established itself as one of the most authentic crossings on the international calendar.
The Pyrenees Stage Run is organised by BiFree Sports, a company with extensive experience in organising stage races. In addition to the PSR, they also manage the Costa Brava Stage Run and the Brama Stage Run, events that stand out for offering a unique experience of adventure and challenge in spectacular natural environments.
