On Sunday, September 1, the eighth edition of the Pyrenees Stage Run 2024 kicked off. Over the next few days, 135 runners from 19 different countries will face a 220-kilometer route with a positive gain of 15000m, crossing some of the most impressive landscapes in the Pyrenees.
The runners, most of them international, started to arrive in Ribes de Freser last Wednesday, and until Saturday, which was the day of the delivery of bibs, mandatory equipment check and, of course, briefing and dinner together. The first contact between runners, race management, staff and volunteers to face the next seven days of racing.
First days of the PSR 2024
The runners have already completed the first stage, which took them from Ribes de Freser to the Sanctuary of Núria, passing through legendary peaks in the area such as Balandrau and Collada de Torreneules. They faced the first challenges in the high mountains, with weather that was not good, as rain was the protagonist in the first stage.
The participants continue their adventure, with a second stage that will take them from Núria to La Masella, passing through the emblematic Puigmal, with 35 km and 1700m upphill.
The 2024 route
The PSR route follows the historic GR11 trail, crossing five emblematic natural parks. From Ripollès to Val d’Aran, the participants will pass through iconic points such as Puigmal and Comapedrosa, the highest peak in Andorra. The race will end on Saturday, 7th September in Salardú, after seven days of competition, camaraderie, mountains and adventure.
