The 5th edition of the Pyrenees Stage Run started last Sunday in Ribes de Freser with the challenge of traveling 240km of the Pyrenees for 7 days. The first two stages have taken the runners from Ribes de Freser to Queralbs on Saturday, and to Puigcerdà today. So far the weather has not affected the race and the entire route has been done in good temperature conditions and without rain.
The race is held in teams of 2 or 3 participants and so far it is dominated by “Tuga Canarias” team (Gilberto Molina and Carmelo Gonzalez) followed by the “The Sigobros Century” (Jesús and Mario Delgado brothers) and the “The Ultrazzz” (Wim Debbaut, Thomas Swankaert and Kurt Dhont) in the men’s categorie. In the female category, Marcela Mikulecka and Petra Buresova “Runsport Team” dominate, followed by Jeanette Rogers and Kerrianne Rogers (mother and daughter) “Running Holidays France.” Finally, in the mixed category there is great equality between the Polish team “BeerRunners” (Jaroslaw and Natalia Haczyk) and “B-Running” (Bastian Mathijssen and Birgit Van Bockxmeer), followed a little further by “Black Forest” (Steffen Rothe i Kathrin Litterst).
The event enters Andorra tomorrow, facing the longest stage of 47km, where the runners have 12 hours to finish the route. On Wednesday the shortest stage of the race will be held entirely in Andorra, which will allow participants to gather strength for the second half of the route.
