Queen stage in the Pyrenees Stage Run, the day of Tuesday 4 September had a route of 47km that led the runners of Puigcerdà in Encamp (Andorra), after 2500m of positive height gain. The longest stage of the PSR has begun leaving the Cerdanya plain behind until reaching the Malniu refuge where the high mountain has begun, passing through the Portella d’Engorgs, the Esparvers hut and the Coll de la Illa.
The entrance to Andorra has been incredible: the runners have gone down the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley (World Heritage by UNESCO) to the lake of Engolasters, before facing a descent of vertigo to the finish line in Encamp.
Among the women’s teams, the results of the third stage show the high rivalry between women team, because each one has won on a different day. In this third stage, the winning team was Mendikoloreak, integrated by Igone Campos and Ainhoa Lendinez and with a time of 8h and 46min. La Sportiva-Mountain Medics, formed by Mirjam Steunebrink and Martine Hofstede, has done a time of 9h and 12min, being in second position. And the third podium classification is for The Two: Iva Baronova and Adela Bodiova (9h 34min).
The first mixed has to complete the stage has been Trota Cims: Harriet Kjaer and Gerard Martinez have done a time of 7h and 24min. In second place, TJ Packa Praha Trailpoint, formed by Kristyna Hajkova and Filip Saidl, needed 7h and 43min to complete the stage. And the third position for mixed teams is occupied by Team Awesome: Linda Hildenes and Christian Hildenes have done a time of 7h 59min.
Regarding the men, the winning team of the stage was BiFree: integrated by Albert Cot and Marc Serra, who made a time of 6h and 29min. The second men’s team to cross the finish line was Axkoitiarrak, with Imanol Aleson and Ixaka Oñederra and 6h 43min. And the third classified of the I can is Tuga Active Wear, the team formed by Dario Jose Dorta Bella and Javier Rodríguez (7h 45min).
Tomorrow the runners will face the shortest stage of the PSR, “only” 20km, but with 1900m of positive height difference that will make the delights of the runners crossing the valleys of Andorra of Encamp in Arinsal.
