There are already 3 editions of the Pyrenees Stage Run, and this is done with more participants and more international than ever, 59 runners from Iceland, Austria, Canada, United States (Alaska), United Kingdom, Argentina, Greece, Norway, Holland, Denmark, Czech Republic, Belgium, Germany and Spain, with Valencian, Canarian, Basque and Catalan representatives.
Today, the start day of the PSR2018, the first stage has led the runners to cross the Natural Park of the Capçaleres del Ter and Freser, climbing to the top of Balandrau (2585m), with spectacular panoramic views. The Camí dels Enginyers has led the race to the Sanctuary of Núria, to end up going down Queralbs along the Camí Vell after 34.3km, 2180m d + and 1890m d-.
The stage has been very quiet, with a predominance of good weather and very good sensations for all riders. However, one of the components of the Icelandic team has retired and has been the only abandonment of the day.
The first mixed team to have crossed the finish line was Trota Cims: Harriet Kjaer and Gerard Martínez took 5h and 17min to complete the stage. In second place, the TJ Packa Praha Trailpoint group, formed by Kristyna Hajkova and Filip Saidl, took 5h and 49min to complete the stage. And the third position for mixed teams is occupied by Bruixots Runners, with Aintzane Ruiz and Ivan Regalado, who have done a time of 5h and 49min.
Among the men’s teams, the first group to finish the stage was the Bifree; integrated by Albert Cot and Marc Serra, the runners have done a time of 4h and 26min. The second team, Axkoitiarrak, formed by Imanol Aleson and Ixaka Oñederra, took 4h and 43min to complete the stage. Closing the podium, in third position and with a time of 5h and 29min, there is Tuga Active Wear, the team of Dario Jose Dorta and Javier Rodríguez.
And the women’s classification is headed by the team La Sportiva-Mountain Medicos: formed by Mirjam Steunebrink and Martine Hofstede, they have done a time of 6h and 12min. With a time of 6h and 14min, The Two, fomato by Iva Baronova and Adela Bodiova, have been the second classified. And the third position is for Mendikoloreak, integrated by Igone Campos and Ainhoa Lendinez and with a time of 6h and 31min.
Tomorrow the participants will face a transition stage to enter the Cerdanya, going through Planoles, Dòrria and Coll de la Cruz de Meians before reaching Puigcerdà after 37.4km and 1700m d +.
